We are in the process of re-designing our website. However, all timetables are unaffected as we keep these up to date and you can still join our centre, via the website. We hope you love the new website when it is launched...

We are delighted to announce that Withington Baths and Leisure Centre has received initial National Lottery support to restore the building back to its former Edwardian glory! Made possible by National Lottery players, the project is a major milestone in the restoration of the building and ensuring the sustainability of this South Manchester facility long into the future.

Development funding of £81,700 has been awarded by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) to Withington Baths and Leisure Centre which will enable the Baths to fully scope the extent of restoration needed to restore the Edwardian roof. It will also enable the Baths to design programmes and activities to educate both members and visitors about the heritage of the Baths using photos, stories and personal accounts of how the Baths has impacted on the lives of Manchester residents.

The Baths will be looking for members of the public to contribute their memories and photos to the support the development of the educational programmes. They will also be looking for volunteers to carry out research and get involved in delivering heritage events to primary schools, local residents and local workers.
The building is a focal point for the local community and is currently used by over 2000 members for swimming, fitness and wellbeing. It is also used by community groups for a variety of meetings and activities. Built in 1911 the facilities are the last working Edwardian Baths in Manchester and famous for being the first public baths in the city to allow men and women to bathe together.

Commenting on the award, Paul Smith, Director of Withington Baths and Leisure Centre said: “We’re delighted that we’ve received this support thanks to National Lottery players. It’s a massive step that moves us closer to restoring the Baths and making it the best place to swim and workout in Manchester."

We now offer free fitness assessments to all our members. During these assessments we will measure blood pressure levels, body composition, muscular endurance, cardiovascular fitness and flexibility.

Members who are interested should contact the reception to be booked in with one of our personal trainers.

“I would like to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU to you and your team… We attended your centre for a swim, your team were extremely helpful both on the telephone before we arrived and on our arrival. This continued as the young lady on reception helped with the wheel chair and guided us to the disabled changing room. My niece is disabled and water is an amazing soother for her and helps with her physio, so to find this little swimming haven is amazing . We did not know your baths existed before today, but will now make this our preferred swimming venue.” - Tracy

“Special, special place - well done to everyone for saving it!” - Steve

“I love the pool. The colours of the tiles and light coming in from above are just so good when you swim!” - Anna

“Friendly staff, heritage treasure and our kids love it!.” - Gavin
